About Podgora and the region:
Podgora, the picturesque town on the Croatian Adriatic Sea, is situated 65 km southeast of Split and 150 km northwest of Dubrovnik in the very core of the ancient Dalmatian region. It is nestled between the ecologically purest part of the Adriatic Sea, and at the foothill of the Biokovo mountain and national park, whose slopes are covered with dense Mediterranean plants, pine trees and olive groves. Beautiful pebbly beaches stretch for four kilometers along Podgora’s coast, and make this picturesque town in the middle of the Makarska Riviera an ideal place for enjoyment and relaxation.
Podgora is a modern tourist destination, with cozy bays by the sea and a great climate that is rather warm from the early spring to the late fall. The national park Biokovo with its Sv. Jure Peak (1762m) offers possibilities for mountain biking, climbing and hiking. The sport activities range from scuba diving, water-skiing, paragliding, windsurfing, rowing, water polo and swimming to tennis, soccer, basketball and mini golf.
During your stay in Podgora you should enjoy an unforgettable morning walk or evening stroll on its promenades along the sea, or board the romantic fishing trips during the day or night. In order to explore this gorgeous region further you might take exciting daily trips to many of the near islands (Brac, Hvar, Korcula), as well as Dubrovnik, Split, Krka waterfalls, Mostar, and Sarajevo.
